PULSE WORKS MEDIA / PROJECT GUIDE

How to Prepare Files for Remote Mixing and Mastering

Get the right files ready before you pay. Mixing starts with separate recorded parts; mastering starts with one approved stereo mix. A clear brief and a working download link help prevent avoidable project delays.

Published October 21, 2026 · Pulse Works Media · Based on our published service scopes. Confirm unusual requirements before paying.

1. Match the files to the service

For $150 mixing or the $200 mix-and-master bundle, prepare up to 30 clearly labeled WAV or AIFF stems. Here, stems means the separate exported audio parts you want mixed, such as lead vocal, backing vocals and instrumental parts. A single finished MP3 does not supply those separate controls. For $75 mastering, supply one final stereo WAV or AIFF mix without clipping or limiting. If you are not sure your files qualify, ask before checkout.

2. Make the parts easy to line up and identify

Export your mixing files from the same start point so they line up when imported together. Use names that describe each part, rather than a folder full of audio_01 files. Include a rough mix so the intended song structure and vocal placement are clear, plus reference direction for the sound you want. Keep the original project and files. Ask about printed effects or any source you cannot export cleanly before paying; this guide does not require you to change a particular music app or buy software.

3. Check the download link

Place the required audio and your brief in an organized folder and create a downloadable link. Open the link in a signed-out or private browser window to check that the intended files are accessible without sharing your account password. Share only the project files you intend to send. Do not publish account credentials or unrelated client material. Square checkout requires your email and the downloadable song/stems link, or the final stereo mix link for mastering. Keep the order confirmation so questions can be matched to your purchase.

4. Give actionable direction

State which file is the current version, your priorities, any reference tracks and anything that must stay unchanged. During revisions, combine your notes into a clear list and identify the part or time in the song. Mixing includes up to two revision rounds; mastering includes one minor revision. Additional revisions may incur fees. If you need recording, substantial new production, more than 30 stems or work outside the stated package, confirm the fit before purchasing.

5. Follow the mix-to-master order

The published mixing turnaround is 3–5 business days. Mastering is 1–2 business days; in the bundle, that stage follows mix approval. A mix revision can change the source used for mastering, so finish the mix decision first. Files that do not meet requirements may delay delivery. These are production timeframes, not a promise that uploading any file automatically starts a guaranteed release deadline. Tell the studio about a fixed release date before paying.

Ready to order?

Use the service page that matches your files. Each has its own Square checkout, scope and full-payment terms. No appointment or travel is required for these remote services, including for artists elsewhere in Broward County. If the project is not ready, send a service-specific inquiry first rather than purchasing the nearest-looking package.

Project questions

Can I send a single MP3 for the standard mixing package?

The standard mixing package calls for up to 30 labeled WAV or AIFF stems. A single finished MP3 does not provide separate control of vocals and instruments. Ask about your source file before paying.

What is the most important difference between mixing and mastering files?

Mixing uses the separate recorded parts. Mastering uses one approved stereo mix without clipping or limiting. The bundle starts with stems, then masters the mix after approval.
